2011

It is hard to believe that I have been writing these spiritual meditations for more than three years. My meditations have covered a wide spectrum of topics that relate to spiritual motivation. It has always been my goal to make every meditation reflect something positive in life. As we prepare ourselves for 2011, I wanted to share some basic principles that should help us to be more productive and happy in our lives.

I recently read that behind every house or business divided is a person that is prideful and self- centered. It went on to say that behind every united house or business is a leader with humility and integrity that places the needs of others above themselves. Suffice it to say that sometime throughout the year we probably find ourselves in both categories. Truth is, we are frail human beings seeking direction ourselves. Whether we are the leader or the ones being led, we can still find ourselves prideful or humble. When one seeks self-fulfillment first, unfortunately, there is little room for Christ.

Self -serving can be a powerful place for your ego to reside as well as the most dangerous. Usually in the short term the self person finds him or herself highly successful and popular. However, as our head swells and humble thinking is pushed aside, greed finds its way into our lives. Greed is not always about money, it can mask itself by creating a false image of self. When we are left to deal with our own pride without God in our lives, the world we thought we knew becomes so distorted that our view is no longer clear.

You may wonder why I write about this at year end. This is something that has weighed on me for the last three weeks and I have avoided tackling the topic. After seeing so many people seeking healing from Christ for various issues in life, I find myself reaching out to help make the connection. I wonder if most people are seeking healing or the healer. Only you can answer that for yourself.

If over the course of the last few months you have found your faith fading or nonexistent let’s try a new approach in the upcoming year. You have heard the saying, “seeing is believing,” hence doubting Thomas. Change that around to “believing is seeing”.

Seek humbly the word of God with the belief that he is going to make a startling revelation to you. When your heart begins to flutter, stop for a moment and feel the presence of our Lord within you. Now go one step further, pray to our Lord to take away any pride that separates you from the love and peace that we were created to have and share.

I would like to encourage each of you as you make your New Year’s resolutions to add seeking of forgiveness for those you have trespassed against. Decide right now to create the absolute best version of you possible in 2011. Do not accept that your past will keep you from your future; we will no longer be a slave to what we have done.

Now is the time to make the Saul to Paul conversion and change pride for humility. Christ served us with total humility that was unfitting of a king, yet he was one. We too, can become a servant leader in the lives of others and spread the peace and humility that only comes from a true love of Christ. If you are in it to win it in 2011, then get on board and show the world what lives in you.

Peace joy and happy New Year
