Come alive for Christ

Are you actively moving toward your purpose in life or are you complacent to the point that you do not even know what your purpose is anymore? Is your job holding you back from making today the best of the rest of your life? Is it a grudge you can’t let go of or an addiction that you have surrendered defeat to? Maybe you lost your passion for life due to yesterday’s mistakes and you feel like your future is destined to repay the wages of sin. Or worse the tightest grip Satan has on us is to keep guilt in the fore front of our minds which keeps us bound to the past instead of free for the future.

I am asking you today to reach higher, stretch further, run farther, and pray harder to prepare yourself for the door Jesus has opened especially for you. No longer are you going to be bound by the fear that resides deep inside. God has set you free so you can fulfill the dreams that have become a shallow memory.

It is easy to look around and see the less than desirable things that this world has to offer. It is more difficult to look past the difficulty and see the grace in the same situations. God has prepared you for the here and now in everything that has happened up to this point in your life. Be thankful for your experiences and more grateful for being able to see past yesterday and into tomorrow.

I think it is safe to say that everyone reading this is living and breathing, however how many do you think are really alive? Are you really alive or are you just breathing? Jesus tells us in John chapter 13 at the end of the story of Lazarus when he says “dead man come out”. Scripture tells us the dead man came out bound head to toe. Friends are you walking out of the tomb of life yet still bound by the anxiety of the past? Jesus finishes that story with a profound statement when he looks at the crowd and said “unbind that man”. Jesus instructs us to forgive our trespassers as well as accept the forgiveness of those trespassing against.

I read a great quote today by Charles Kettering and it goes like this “you can’t have a better tomorrow if you are thinking about yesterday”. Do you remember in scripture when Peter asks Jesus “Lord how many times must I forgive my brother that has sinned against me? Up to seven times Peter asked? Jesus replies, no not seven for I tell you to forgive seventy times seven”. Other words we are sinners and we are always in need of mercy and forgiveness. Do not limit your future or the future of others by holding on to sins of the past. God is releasing you to live the dream that dwells in you. God can’t change your life without your help so start today by dying to yesterday and coming alive for today. Your dream may have been diminished to an ember however today the wind of Christ is going to blow it into a flame. Let Christ live in you finally and forever.

The rest of your life has been reserved to be the best so stand up and say to God “thank you for giving me what I have and thank you for allowing my experiences to pave my way to freedom”. I am alive, I am alert, and I am ready to be the best person God created me to be. Life really is a choice so I urge you to start living it today.
Peace and love to all
