Portrait

If you were to paint a portrait of yourself what would it look like? The idea would be to convey on the canvas all your feelings and emotions similar to what the million dollar paintings portray. With each stroke of the brush one more emotion, feeling, or memory is moved from deep within and placed on the wonderful work of art you are creating. As the self portrait comes into focus you can start to see the lines of life that make you who you are.
Regardless what the final product looks like one thing is for sure it has heart and soul in it. You gave it all with each stroke and each color. So it is with life, we give it all even when we are not accomplished at what we are doing. We can still use our experience whether good or bad to create something that can be helpful to society. Could you imagine if every person that has made a contribution to society were judged on all the bad they had done? Our world would still be in the stone ages. Jesus recognized early in his ministry that he needed the common vagabonds of society, the social misfits, the ones that had little faith in themselves and had made every mistake imaginable, those were the people commissioned to change the world forever.
I am confident that most people reading this may not want to change the world however I bet you do lay in bed at night with those wild fantasies about being a super hero. Well let's take that fantasy and in some small way make it reality. No one has to dream of being great all you have to do is start. God can use you right now, it doesn't matter your addictions, your problems, your sins, or your personality flaws, you are needed and are being called out to be great.
People get confused when it is time to take action. The moniker of Christianity is that you have to fit into a category that is not inviting or a place you want to be. I say change that image. The best way to change is to simply start changing the way you see you. If you are different than others, well THANKS BE TO GOD. If you do not fit into what society says is normal, well GOOD FOR YOU. The portrait you have created for yourself is stunning and full of beauty. You are the difference the world needs for the peace and love movement to grow.
Life can be fun and filled with adventure. When others tell you that you should not have fun get away from them. When others tell you that you are not worthy know that God is saying you are. When others are to righteous to see the goodness in others forgive them and move on. Life is about to get exciting because we are giving ourselves permission to make a difference.
Let me say in closing this reflection that there are many people that are caught up in a faith prison. They know that what they are doing does not fit what they want. They are trapped by family and church pressure to conform. Pray that all people can break the chains of bondage and start today creating a place we can all live and love together.

peace to you
