Product information labels
When you go to the store do you read the labels of the product you are buying? If the purchase is some sort of electronic I bet you probably go online and check reviews to make sure what you are getting is what you want. The last thing any of us want is an ill advised purchase that does not live up to the expectations provided on the label or commercial we saw on TV.
If you could write out your warning label or product information label what would it say? Would you have a buyer BEWARE because your knowledge you would use to write the label would be gained from past performance instead of future potential?
An exercise like this could go several different ways. Let's say you are having an exceptional few years of life you have made more money than you could have ever dreamed of and your have become the community snob without even knowing it. The label others put on you would not be as kind as the one you put on yourself. However let's say you are a very giving loving person that is always out front when someone is in need. You always do your best to provide for your friends and family regardless what you have left over for yourself. In this case others would probably write a label with a high recommendation yet you would probably have a lessor view of yourself than they would.
Here is the label that worries me the most, it is the one that warns others not to try you because of their own bad experience or something they have heard. It is their goal to leave you on the shelf until you expire or are sold at a discount and relegated to the garage or closet as some out of date item.
I write this because it is important that people are viewed not as a merchandise but as humans. In this age of instant information we are all to often read the headlines and not the news. We create the image or thought of a person based on limited information. If our socioeconomic status allows it we make sure that we distance ourselves from the negative headline makers in the hopes that we are elevated to some place that others in the same category hold in some pseudo high esteem.
Your label can contain warnings for sure, you know your weaknesses but do you know your strengths? Do you know the greatness that lies inside you? Do you know that you were built for accomplishment? You are not last years product sold at a discount. You are the way and the hope of a brighter tomorrow. Without you God's kingdom would be incomplete. So as you sit a write out your product information label be sure you write in big bold letters that you are AWESOME, you are worthy of love and acceptance.
Do not self sabotage your future based on your past. This is the future this is the here and now this is your chance to shine.
I want to leave you with this from scripture. I will not be a verse writer so I will go from memory but you will know what I am talking about. In the Gospels we read the parable about the shepherd that leaves his flock of 99 to find the ONE that is missing. Well let me just say with confidence that Jesus is looking for you. Stand up dust off your clothes and get ready the ride of your life is about to begin. Everyone is going to want what you have now that your label has been properly written. Let's make today the best day of our lives and it starts RIGHT NOW.
