The Perfect Storm

You know the old cliche "the calm before the storm" and we can all relate to those weather events that build with anxiety and sometimes deliver with a powerful punch while other times it fades into a nice summer shower. Regardless how the storm turns out we usually remember those calm peaceful eerie moments prior to the climatic event itself. If the storm happens during the day you can literally see the stillness of trees while the clouds go rolling by. As the intensity of the calmness grows and treetops start to move you start to give the storm and mother nature the respect they deserve. Warm air from the south combined with a low cool mass from the north and you have the makings for the perfect storm. Then with the force you expected the wind picks up, the rain comes like a wave and the lightning puts on a display fit for a king. To be expected you take shelter, hiding in the safe zone in the hopes it will pass and leave your family, friends, and home intact.

Like all storms or acts of mother nature it passes, the sky clears, the ground dries, and life gets back to normal. So true with the storms of life. Things can be great one minute and we can be in desperation the next. Just when we think we have life on cruise the storm comes crushing through taking causalities as it goes. I bet you have faced one or two of those in your life.

You may be facing a storm, in the midst of a storm, or in the calm before the storm. As much as you try to go through each day with hope and joy the clouds of fear and doubt are building up. The rain of past offenses looms in the distance and even though you can see it you can't seem to outrun it. Oh the calm, that ever so powerful calm that creates that gut wrenching pain knowing that the hurricane force winds are about to come blowing in. The thunder rolls in your mind like a mighty tree crashing to the ground. The noise and sound of the calm before the storm is almost more than you can take.

Do you ever face those life storms that only you seem to be able to see? Those tornadoes that you feel like you have helped create in an effort to move forward in this old world yet your ability to cheat mother nature falls flat on its face. The wind and rain is simply to strong. The only thing you are conditioned to do is run for shelter.

We all face these trials whether self created or we are a victim of life circumstances. The storms come and they go, some are stronger than others and some fizzle before they begin. We can't always predict what the next obstacle is we will face however we can prepare so that when that perfect storm comes we can have some instincts that will guide is safely to the other side.

If you are facing a storm, I would like to ask you to be the calm. Be that tall oak that stands firm fully prepared to bend, lose a few leaves, maybe a branch or two yet will survive. Never feel like life is  hopeless no matter how strong the wind and rain seems to be. You may have created the circumstances that helped this storm develop but let me say this and please listen "you plus God equals enough" to survive the grandest of natures fury. When life dumps mighty amounts of force on you dig in your heels and with the most humility you can find ask God to join you as you face the road ahead. Before you know it wonderful friends will be walking with you and cleaning up the trail of debris. You see we do not walk alone. We are the movement we will tackle the winds of weather together and with God we will survive. I am in to win until the end and I know now that you are too. The past will not be the storm that destroys it will only blow us to the future where our hopes and dreams stand waiting.

peace to you
Dale
