Positive

I am positive that being positive can be positively wonderful. Let's take a look at being negative and I can prove to you why being positive is so much better. Consider a group of people getting together with time on their hands and a conversation strikes up. More times than not it turns to talking about someone and from there it tends to go negative real quick. Why do you think this happens?

Let's look at facts for a moment - positive people live longer, tend to be healthier, usually exercise, and seldom engage in excessive alcohol, smoking, or drug dependency. This on the surface seems like a rather exclusive group to belong to; however, the more interesting thing is that you can actively make a choice to get in this group. Contrast this with people that spend their waking hours being negative. They always find what is wrong with their jobs, the people they work with, folks in the drive thru, family, friends, politics, and anything else that is worthy of sharing a complaint about. You know the people I am talking about and you may even be one of them and so might I even though I pray I am not.

Being negative is contagious much more so than being positive. For some reason in our society, being positive makes people uncomfortable while being negative seems to go with the flow. A huge downside to being negative is that you allow many outside forces to control your life to the point that you have an excuse for everything.

Going back to being positive, which is why I am writing this, I happen to know many people that are current cancer fighters. I always call cancer the great equalizer because almost without exception it crosses all socioeconomic paths; cancer does not discriminate. When a person gets a diagnosis of cancer, their life is turned upside down. I have seen the most negative people become positive nearly overnight. Why? Because being negative will put them in the grave while being positive opens the pores of hope that can aid the body in the healing process. These people realize quickly that the attitude they shared with others prior to cancer was not the one of hope and encouragement that they now need to cultivate; well, that is unless the encouragement was how to make someone else's life miserable.

You see, positive is life while negative is death. If you want to pick up the pieces of a life gone wrong, change your view of the world around you. It is your choice today and every day whether or not to engage in negative behavior. When someone tries to bring your attitude down, find a way to lift them up. If you constantly find yourself in the middle of drama, it is time to realize that the source of that drama most likely is you.

Negative behavior affects us all simply because we are human. Being positive is like exercising to build strength; the more you do it, the easier it gets. People love to talk about being a Christian, yet sometimes display very little of the characteristics a true Christian would have. If we are to love others the way Christ loved us, it would be impossible to do so in a negative manner. Love comes from the heart and if the heart is dark, then the love that it portrays is shallow and without meaning.

The best part about being positive is that you can help change others’ view of the world by their seeing how you have changed. We can make being positive an epidemic. I bet if we are collectively positive together, we can turn around many of the issues we face in this world today. There will always be problems; however, facing them in a positive way will have a much better outcome than facing them in a negative manner.

Lift yourself up and stop putting yourself down. One of the greatest rewards when changing the way you see others is in what it will also do for you. In short order you will feel better than ever before. Give yourself the dream of life back and enjoy the beauty that God has surrounded you with. No one can do it for you, but they can darn sure try to keep you from getting it. Being positive can and will bring peace and love back to the circle which you belong.

peace to you

Dale
