Wake up
I read a quote this morning that said "you can't live your dreams if you don't wake up". I thought that was a rather profound statement. I would like to ad to that this statement, if you are always expecting something from someone else that will make your life better you will always be disappointed.
I, like many of you, have spent a lifetime working and earning in order to make the proverbial living. You know the drill, I work to buy the things I do not need so I can stress over how to get the things I do not have.Somewhere in this American dream (nightmare) I, like you, lost the ability to build a life.
I am sure that each person reading this has at some point in time over the last few months given something to a charity. Whether it be the person standing outside the grocery store, the solicitor in the neighborhood, or the benefit at church, we have all donated something. More times than not it is out of frustration that we give not out of love or benevolence. I will tell you this and do not miss this nugget of information. Until you become the charity you will never get the rewards life has in store for you.
In giving from the heart we get so much more in return which makes us the beneficiary or the charity. When you help another in need the gift is given back to you ten fold. The problem is when we give with a selfish heart neither party gains the true benefit of the charitable work. Think about the elderly or a child that can no longer take care of themselves, or it may be a sick or dying person. Whoever it is they are totally dependent on you or others to take care of them. When you spend your precious energy on them the day will come when you get the rewards (charity) for all of your giving. The grace disguised is the purification of the soul and the warming of the heart and mind. When we are spending our energy giving we do not have time to think of the material possessions we so often associate with pleasure. When our cup overflows with giving something magical happens inside of us that seems to help our mind drift away from the billboards and in your face advertising that points you to the next best thing that usually leads to pain not pleasure.
Wake up and see what the benefits of giving can bring to your life. Now you must understand that you cannot gain these benefits if
you give out of frustration
you brag about the giving that you do
you silently seek something in return
the giving comes with a price tag
you volunteer for work that you never follow through on
Now that you have some clues about how to make your living into a life let's get to work and make someone else's burden our hope for the future. Remember in giving is where you find the true profits for your labors. It isn't what you buy at the store for yourself that counts, what counts the most is what you can give to the least in the kingdom. Wanta life? Wake up it is waiting on you
