Hot Summer NIght
In the heat of the moment the hope of new day will dawn. Our attitudes rise and fall like the setting of the sun and summer's eve. The beauty of a positive attitude is reflective in the aura of the light that surrounds us. All the while the bleakness of being negative subtracts from the energy that God gave you to start the day.
The passion that we go to bed with and we start the day with seems to get lost the moment we hit the door. I find it rather interesting that the first person that pulls out in front of you in traffic suddenly takes control of what was going to be your day. If not the person in traffic it is the gossip at the office. Whichever happens it is rather sad that we start our day with high hopes only to see it diminished before noon. We blame it on the actions of others when in fact it is us that sabotage the possibilities the day held.
I think it is fear that drives our mind and soul to attract that which pulls us down. Not fear of the people or circumstances but fear of our own potential. We all feel as though we need that safety net, harness, or rope that gives us the secure feeling that everything will be ok. That my friends is fear and it is robbing us of our life. Do you recall when Jesus instructed Peter to walk to him on the water. Peter in fact walked on the water until he looked down and realized what was happening. At that moment he totally lost his faith and began to sink. Are you sinking because your faith is too weak to believe?
What drives your faith? I know mine is weak but I was hoping yours was strong. If fear holds us back and courage moves us forward, why in the world do we live as though we need our lives to be protected. I do not think God intended for us to live our lives in reckless abandon but by the same token we were never instructed to stick our heads in the sand either.
The question today is this, what are you doing to build your courage and to find the faith to believe you are the greatest creation God has ever made. On a hot summer night with clouds in the sky what is your hope for tomorrow? If you are going to do live conservatively everyday do you expect all the blessings that come with investing of your time treasure and talent? I know you all are familiar with the parable of the talents. The man that was rewarded is the one that invested. He took risk and was offered the reward. The man that buried his talent was cast out.
Is your talent buried? I hope you find the will and resolve to believe you can make a difference. There is no mountain or obstacle to big that with the support of friends and the belief in self you cannot climb over.
If your attitude about life, work, relationships has grown cold or sour it is time to re-evaluate the direction you are going. Realize that you may be the problem and you in fact are the solution. Today may have been bleak but tomorrow will surely shine. It is up to you so get up and get going. I can feel your faith growing right now.
