I just want to make a difference

In our youth we dream of being all those larger than life people. The beautiful and the strong that save the world. Those were the days when life was all fantasy yet our future was still before us.

All he wanted to do was make a difference in people's lives. Not in the way of money or anything like that it was more in the way of showing people how great they really are. The sad truth is that no matter how much he tried the bitterness and mockery of others always seemed to prevail over goodness. I listened to his story for days as we wrote back and forth. I finally realized that this man was truly trying to do the work of God in a world that worshiped the materialism of Satan.

Sure he had his own demons as all people do and those were what people tried to exploit to diminish the positive things he was trying to do. He hung out at bars so he must be bad, he was twice divorced so obviously he has trouble with commitment, and the list goes on and on. There were those that saw the good yet they were not willing to get to close because of the circles he was found in.

I enjoyed our short email exchanges as well as the few phone calls. What I enjoyed most was reflecting back to my youth and my fantasy of being a superhero. After my last conversation with this gentleman my eyes were opened to the fact that he was the ordinary man yet extra-ordinary hero. This man honestly wanted to make a difference in the world in which he lived. Never in your face condemning this or that, oh no, his way of changing people was his genuine expression of love towards all. He could not see if people were black, white, red, or gray. He had no concern if people were gay or straight. His concern was if people were hurting emotionally and spiritually.

When you view life like that it becomes crystal clear that the world is a field of hope waiting to be harvested. So much time is spent trying to get people to see the material God's that we are absolutely blind to the real God that dwells inside each of us. It can't be the allure of living life in the gray area that guides us because that direction will lead you to a pot of gold for a period of time yet it will also chain you to that which you migrated to. Make sense? Well think about it like this. Is your vision for a better tomorrow made clear by the actions you take or the words you speak? We can't condemn and expect to attract positives.

All people are people of God. Whether they think like you, act like you, or look like you they all hold a place in the heart of the creator. When you, me, or anyone places others beneath us we are in direct violation of the laws of love and creation.

I believe this gentleman of which I speak has a clear understanding of how Jesus walked and talked. He understands that loving and forgiving has a much higher superhero effect than does the villainous judge that condemns people that are outside their social status or hyper sensitive false conservative thinking.

Love is what the world needs. It has been proven time and time again and will be proven again. Be the superhero your friends and family need. It isn't rocket science but it is the toughest yet most rewarding thing you will ever do.

peace to you
Dale
