The loss of a loved one

There are so many people facing insurmountable emotional odds in the upcoming holiday season. This may be the first Thanksgiving or Christmas without a loved one for several folks. We all face memories during this time of year of the good ole days or a time that has long gone. Each memory can provide a moment of sorrow or joy depending on what it may be. But for those that face the season alone for the first time the flood of emotions can be so overwhelming that good intentioned friends and family can offer little relief.

In my Livin A Dream Foundation I hear from many people that are dealing with a loved one that is dying or has already passed and the mere thought of facing the holiday's is depressing.

Then there are those people that have lost a close friend and have no one to turn to so they can express their sadness. This may sound strange but friendships are often closer than family. BUT the friendship emotions are near impossible to express because the family feelings come first. Those that are facing this know what I mean.

As a people of faith and hope how do we reach out to those suffering from loneliness due to loss. This is not an easy task however I think it is one we can address. I am confident God places Angels in our midst and get this I also think we are used as Angels of hope too. Our experiences are what guide us into the future. If you have already faced the experience of loss trust me there are plenty of people that will be facing it real soon.

If we can use our experience to touch the hearts of those that have just lost a loved one or are about to I am confident the love you will feel will amaze you. We are more united in loss than you can imagine. However in loss also creates division because people do not know what to do or say. I like the words of Max Lucado "nothing remains between you and God but an open door". We have to be the open door for others to walk through. For us to face the stress of the holidays we must share in the relief of others.

Our fond memories will most assuredly bring tears of joy and sadness during this time and I would not want to change that in anyway. Love is a powerful thing and it is not lost by death. The new dynamic and expression of love can be used to lend the helping hand to others. God paves the way for the suffering to cross our path. They do not cross merely to be comforted the often cross to be the comforter. The perfect plan God has in place can provide ointment for the soul once you believe that the Angel of hope is you.

The loss of your family or friend is a sad thing indeed. During this holiday season please find some comfort in knowing that the loss was not in vain. God needs you to share a vision of hope through your loss to others facing the same pain. We are all together in this life and death so please when you know of a friend facing the depression of the season please be the messenger of hope. Who knows you may be the one that receives the message.

peace to you
Dale
