The Elephant in the ROOM

I bet you can relate to those nights when you wake up and all the negatives you have faced or will face are racing around in your brain. No matter how much you try to shut it off or redirect it the elephant in the room are the fears manifesting in your mind. It grows bigger and bigger and before you know it your heart is beating faster, you are tossing and turning, and every possible scenario ends in disaster. The mind is an amazing thing especially when the rest of the world is closed and only you are open.

The problem at play with the ole elephant is what caused him to get there in the first place. Why in the world do we awaken in the darkness to find the ten ton critter weighing us down and our strength to remove him is as weak as the power to stay awake. Who is this elephant or what is it. The mind is the most highly technical item on the face of the earth. It has the ability to absorb, cipher, calculate, meditate, situate, arbitrate, solve, love, hate, or survive. The elephant is the devil akin to an addict attaching itself to anyone of the verbs listed above. The mask of the devil starts off with that peaceful easy feeling of being helpful and then before you know it has grown into a monster so heavy it literally takes drastic life situations to change.

What is the elephant roaming freely in your mind? You know who or what it is and only you know. We all have our private personal elephants that we have trained, fed, watered, and nurtured. No one knows them better than we do. It is not a problem until the elephant gets so big we can no longer control it. That is where we find ourselves suffering the ill effects of life long past decisions that we cannot seem to escape.

The good news is that we can wrestle this elephant down. Let me share a quote that a friend shared with me, "when I look back on life, I see pain, mistakes, and heartache. When I look in the mirror, I see strength, learned lessons, and pride in myself".

I often speak about the past because so many people tend to live there instead of living forward. That enables the elephant to grow and thrive while you die on the vine. Past is simply that PAST. Sure it has an educational impact on the future but the reality is that you can do more for yourself when you move from victim to victor. Life is all about the view. How you view life is NOT the way it really is. Elephants have great eye sight and trust me your elephant wants you to see the view of the world through his eyes. Change the view and you change your life. See the world as it is not as you think it is.

Do you want to change or stay the same? Do you want to put your elephant on a diet, well let's just do it. I love to read as most people know and I have a list of books that I am truly convinced can change the way you view life and ultimately change your life for the better. Email me at dchildress@livinadream.com and I will share the list with you.

Don't wait for change to happen to you, it is up to you to effectuate the change you expect in your life. Hurry your life depends on it.

peace to you
Dale
