Down Down Down

Down down down flat on your back or face in the dirt with no where to go but further down in the ground. All the resolutions, positive affirmations, Bible reading, smiling, and girding your tongue will not bring you out of the tumult you find yourself in. There is no way out and everything has been tried.

That sounds like a pretty desperate situation yet it is one that is played out in the minds of people everyday. We get so busy being a fantasy version of ourselves or working our tails off to be the person everyone else wants us to be that we absolutely positively have no idea who we really are. When the real ME (you) tries to rise up we use all of our power to push the unwelcome intruder back down below the level of awareness.

Consider the times you truly desire to get your life back on track. As you wrestle in your head all the things you regret with the changes you want to make the road map ahead starts to take shape, UNTIL. The fear of loss becomes more painful than the allure of gain. What are you losing you may ask? A life surrounded by uncomfortable comfort. The sin factor wins out over the Christ factor almost every time. The energy to stay the same seems greater than the energy to change, so why bother.

Down does not look so bad when you consider the alternative is to change the lifestyle that got you there in the first place. That seems downright stupid I know but I can guarantee that many reading this know exactly what I am talking about. Our hope is that the expression of words will magically transform enough people around us that by some weird osmosis our lives take the shape our heart desired it to. Read my lips folks THAT DOES NOT WORK.

Change is the only absolute that carries with it a dynamic for growth. This world is ever evolving, it will NEVER be like it was no matter how much you want it to. It is still great and filled with hope and potential but if you are not willing to approach change with a welcome spirit your downward spiral will see no bottom. Life in fact forces change usually due to a tragic event or experience. We call it God directed, a miracle, and angel in disguise, or whatever but the cold hard facts are that once that life altering experience  fades or rows cold your life migrates right back to where it was before.

Down is starting to look attractive isn't it? Heck the dirt can grow grass and the dust usually does settle so why not just roll around in the ruts of life forever. All those resolutions and self promises will be gone soon enough once the devil inspired alter ego convinces you that change is simply unhealthy.

You can stop the madness of this crazy self inflicted behavior I have lined out here. Stop allowing yourself to be defeated and for God sake stop creating drama in your life and blaming the world around you. Take responsibility for exactly where you are. Start thinking out conscience choices and fully realize that you and only you are in control of your actions. Change is not easy, as a matter of fact it may well be the hardest thing you have ever done yet it carries the highest reward. God placed in you the ability to survive and even better he placed in you the ability to thrive.

I am reading a book right now called Unstoppable about a man born with NO ARMS and NO LEGS. This man after much anger and depression finally accepted who he was and now has created a life without limits even though he has a life without limbs. So what is your hold back? I am assuming most of you have legs, arms, eyes, ears, heart, and a mind. If so you are equipped with more than enough God given tools to guide your life back to the road of health, happiness, and prosperity. Start small effectuating change in your life but by all means please start. The heart and soul that is inhabiting your body is waiting on you to make the decision to live. There is no need to be the walking dead any longer the new attitude and new you has finally arrived so go after that all inspiring Christ centered life. The view from ground up is much better than the view ground down.

peace to you
Dale
