Curiosity

Man's search for the elusive meaning of life can take us places that stretch the bounds of our limited imagination. That is if you are interested in the journey and treasure such a search can produce. You see life is made of thoughts, actions, and emotions. Each one has to be developed in such a way that facilitates growth and curiosity.

Where is your life of curiosity at right now? The answer to that can be as wide as it is deep. In my mental research to write this the only expert I could interview was myself. The reason is because my search for meaning is as personal as yours. Here are some of things I found along my little walk of curiosity.

I wonder how many people understand the humanity that resides in each of us. That humanity is not what we ask for at birth it is what we were given. As we grew our life pattern became a series of choices that placed us on various paths. No matter the path the one constant we all have is our humanity. That is a good thing by the way and it opens the window to understand our search for meaning. As we grew from childhood into adolescent and on up to adulthood we tried things that would test our limits. Remember the hot stove lesson. Place your hand on it and it gets burned. The rest of your life you will know not to do that.

I use the analogy of the hot stove because it is the one our parents love to recite to us. The problem with that recitation is that the supposed lesson is this, if you get burned once don't do it again. That lesson my friend places unbelievable limits on your life. Certainly we do not want to extol ourselves with such foolish knowledge that forces us to continuously burn our hand on the stove. The right thing is to utilize our curiosity in such a way that we learn to dance on the hot surface without getting burned.

Our search for meaning in life goes in predictable stages. In our teen years when we are bullet proof we try just about everything. The wise folks do all they can do to make sure you utilize their age old wisdom so as not to make the mistakes they made. Naturally in somethings that is truly wise BUT in others we must challenge our youth to explore who they are and why they exist. The next predictable stage is when we settle down and begin our life as an adult. The search for meaning stops and is replaced by responsible living. Again not completely bad but the wild at heart that is at the core of all people almost stops beating.
As life gets mature and we face the twilight our search once again tilts on it's axis. We start to wonder if this is all life has or had to offer. The search for meaning can stimulate an imagination and curiosity almost as strong as it was in our youth. Then reality slaps us smack in the face and we start to think of those life lessons, spiritual wisdom, and faith based fear that was instilled in us over the years. Our search grinds to a halt and life once again is focused on dying and not live.

Friends the search for meaning has to be a constant in life. We are alive and we should act like it. You cannot find the meaning of life by sticking your head in the sand. God gave us curiosity to seek. Never take that curious nature for granted. The movers and shakers in the world tapped into the mind in ways most people fear too. Want to understand life, start living it. Stop right now by being controlled by yesterdays' junk. Today is the treasure and tomorrow is the curious dream. Allow your mind to explore your meaning. The search will develop in you a spiritual faith base core that will illuminate you in a wonderful new way. The great thing is that our search is a choice. We can live life on the edge and enjoy the splendid view our sit back relax and wait for this life to end. As for me? Well I am climbing up to see the view. Care to join the journey?

peace to you
Dale
