Let's live together in peace

Do you really want to be happy? Sounds like a question with an obvious answer wouldn't you say. If your quest in life is to find joy, peace and happiness then you have to work toward or look for things that promote that feeling. That does not include jealousy, revenge, hate, conspiracy theories, government bashing, excuses, gossip, blame, or procrastination. Anyone of those will destroy any hope for finding peace and happiness in your life. Which begs the question why do we allow ourselves to fall prey to such emotional stresses.

I am sure sometime in life, especially since the advent of social media that you have thrown yourself a pity party, right. The problem with a pity party is that you invite others to it so that it becomes perpetual and they too throw their own party and invite their friends. This cyclical party pitching is a road block to emotional bliss. It is ok to throw yourself a pity party because life does deliver us bumps every now and then BUT it isn't a party that you can stay at and for God's sake don't invite others. It is ok to get down but you can't stay down. When you find yourself being attacked by hate, jealousy, or any thing on the list above you must speed through to get past it. Is it easy? No, but most things in life aren't, however if we truly want any type of heart felt happiness we have to accept the bumps, quickly deal with them in a positive manner, and move on. That my friends is called living life.

As you all know I often talk to people battling cancer and it never fails that we talk about their lives, what they regret, and what they wished the had done more of. One man in particular comes to mind. This gentlemen spent much of his adult life so caught up in government conspiracy theories that it literally destroyed his ability to enjoy life. He told me himself that he was mystified how other people could go about having so much fun while all this corruption was going on around us. Then with a lump in his throat he told me that he too wished he had not spent his life worrying about things that didn't matter, all the while alienating himself from family and friend that didn't want to be around him. He missed the joy of living life.

In this wonderful world in which we find ourselves we can easily find hundreds of things that bring us down, hold us back, or things we can blame our life on. The winner within has to stop that madness and find the true joy that simply breathing can give. Life gives and life takes, what matters most is what we do with what we have. Our hearts are prized possessions and should be protected as such. A healthy heart is one that feeds on constant positive input even in the face of negative stuff.

If you find yourself getting mad or sad watching tv, or you get caught up in some of the childish bitter gossip that plays out on social media then it is impossible to have a happy life. You can't do negative things or have negative thoughts and expect to have a happy life.

Happiness is in itself life, and let me just say material items will not, can not, have not, and never can bring you that feeling. When your pursuit of money driven pleasure encompasses your thinking the search for peace and happiness evolves into one of greed and dissension. Happiness does not come to you in materialistic ways, you must go after it in spiritual and emotional ways.

We have covered a lot in this mini blog, the question now is where do we start. Start small, finish big, kinda like going on a diet or training for a marathon, the key is starting. Slowly but surely start infusing your day with positive thoughts. That might mean quit watching the news or reading negative books. Stop being a source of drama, yes that means you. The main thing and boiling it down to it's most basic form is this, you have to choose a life of peace and happiness. Once you truly do that the rest will fall into place. Is it that easy? NO WAY, but with practice it gets easier and easier. Life is so important and it is not a dress rehearsal, this is the real deal. As many of you know life can change in seconds which makes it that much more important to enjoy this moment as best you can. Remember you can never have peace if your goal is to destroy others. Think about that, loving life comes from loving all of God's creation. Forgive fast, love long, and by all means share a smile with a sign of peace.

peace to you
Dale
