The God Factor

What is the God factor in your life? I could and should end this blog with that simple question but you know me I feel like there is something inside me that needs to be said. The God factor is a phenomenon I see when people talk about God in some controlling way. Let me explain before you get defensive.

What part of your life or the life of others do you think God controls? Any, all, none, some? Think about your answer, then think about your actions. Is God real in your life and if so how? What do you REALLY believe about God? Do your words and actions line up with your core belief? That answer most likely would be no. There is an environmental conditioning factor at work here. We are conditioned to believe and act in certain ways but the truth is DEEP down in our hearts and minds we wonder if what we have been taught to believe is even real.

Have faith they say, give more money, give more time, read the Bible more often, etc. None of this is bad as long as you can make it make sense. We all to some degree have faith or we would never leave the safety of our homes. Faith is not the problem here, it is an excuse when we do not act as others think we should act. The problem as I see it in the God factor is that it honestly does not make sense to me. Jump on or off the band wagon if you so choose but if you give yourself permission there is a part of you that agrees with me.

I believe in God no doubt, 100%, without question. I believe without a shadow of a doubt that God created this awesome beautiful universe out of love. I believe God is love and love can move mountains. I do not believe God is sitting up in some magical control tower saying ok today I will make some more poor hungry people that only live a few years, tomorrow I will make a new batch of crippled folks, and if I have time next week I will make a small amount of people that will be healthy and prosperous. I might even throw in a few murders, molesters, bank robbers, and if time permits I will make some dishonest preachers. That is not a God that I will ever believe.

Sure there is some cynical humor in that paragraph but I think you get the gist of what I am trying to convey. Beings that we cannot understand the universe we invent things that make even less sense. What I find interesting to the point of absurdity is what we can convince others to believe. Think about that for a few minutes, let it genuinely sink in. What do you believe as it relates to God? Let me tell you what I believe. I believe we were created in the totality of love with the hopes we too would extend that love and create a world full of goodness and joy. We would be in a place where people helped each other, appreciated each others differences, laughed together, cried together, shared, etc. I believe that the greatest gift God ever gave us was life. I believe the rest is up to us. We are the miracle that can produce miracles. With the agape love placed in us from birth we can move mountains, cure disease, heal broken hearts, solve the poverty in the world, and simply put make this a better place to live.

God gave us the tools to succeed, we were created to accomplish, endowed with the seeds of greatness, we were born an original. What does not work is when we are molded into the likeness and image of a world filled with greed, ego, bitterness, envy, jealousy, and hate. It is easy to promote all the negatives because we are taught to believe that the world is negative. Which brings me back to the person looking back in the glass. When you see yourself do you see a reflection of love or do you see something else. Do you see a reflection of hope or do you see despair. The person looking back in the glass is the one that matters most and it is the one God created to be his greatest miracle.

Life is so precious and so wonderful when you believe in the power of love. Anything less will lead to a life of misery, not only for you, but to those around you. Love cures more illness than medicine ever will yet the combination of the new can wipe out sickness. Love heals the broken heart and that in and of itself creates new meaning for life. What is the God factor? Pure and simple LOVE. What does the God factor mean in your life, nothing if you cannot put aside your ego, your opinions, your divisiveness, your walls, and your greed. It is up to you, not anyone else. If you want to see the awe and beauty of the person looking back in the glass start believing today that you are God's greatest miracle and in you is the ability to create more miracles because you are a creature of love.

peace to you
Dale
