Average

I think it was the search for wisdom that led me to that quiet place. It was answers I needed and I needed them fast. Life was spinning rapidly into a form that was going to be easily unrecognizable if I were not able to slow the process and discern it's motive. Turn right, turn left, stand still, go straight, or go back? This was one of those moments in life that the answer was as elusive as the quandary itself.

As my thoughts had become encompassed into a mythological tale that seemed as fictional as Star Wars, I found myself transfixed into a phenomenon called average thinking/ But then I shook myself back to reality with the forbearing knowledge that what was before me was as real as could possibly be. My inaction could cause as much harm as the wrong action. Hence it brings me to the point to where most people find themselves. What do I do, when do I do it, do I even attempt to do it?

Our search for answers always lands on the experiences our life is composed of. Our critical thinking is based on years of exposure to life itself. We are taught to conform in average ways, which means problem solving at best only has average answers. With average answers even if they are great will only elevate our status to high average. Are you following me?

Life is and always will be a series of events. A high percentage of those events will have outcomes based on choices we make. If all of our choices are based on a lifetime of average thinking we have no means of moving past what is now referred to as average.

I personally think one of the greatest tragedies in our times is people breathing and never living. We are taught to believe and expose failure when in actuality we should be teaching people the value of proper risk taking. Without risk our search for self will always produce a substandard copy of who we are not. Think about that for a minute. We all have that child like dream to be something bigger than life, but we never let it manifest itself into anything other than a dream because our critical thinking is stuck on average.

I love reading the Gospels because the stories of Jesus show us a person that was anything but average. Sure he walked, he worked, he traveled, but his actions were way out of the ordinary for his times. What about you? Do you see yourself as average or do you see yourself as an original portrait that has so much depth and beauty that if purchased the price tag would be in the billions? The truth is that you are worth so much more than you think you are, but average thinking has driven down your value. We live our lives as though we were searching for a bargain. We constantly devalue others which in turn devalues ourselves.

To elevate yourself above average you must change the way you view your surroundings. When you start seeing things that you once considered ordinary as extra-ordinary the world in which you live will take on new color and life. The takeaway point to this blog is this: love yourself for who you are, love others for who they are. Begin to see the world around you in amazing colorful ways. Instead of seeing people with little value see them as God's greatest miracle, like yourself, and elevate their value and yours to the point of being a masterpiece worth it's weight in gold. Life has brought you to be average but going forward you are going to be anything but average. You will dream, you will find hope, you will find love, you will give love, you will forgive, you will accept, and by doing all of this you will be so far above average that people will wonder what has happened to you. Give life a chance, you are already breathing, now start living.

peace to you
Dale
