Originality

Sometimes I think we avoid the obvious, not because of faith but because of fear. We create illusions in our mind of life's holy grail and then waste precious time chasing it, only to find out that the closer we get it really was more of a nightmare than a dream. I think I have come to the conclusion that life is not complicated it just isn't simple. Can you imagine where our live's would be if we had not worked so hard to become what or who the world told us we should be?

In the world of business there is very little originality left. Not because everyone copies each other but simply because most variations of what we do has already been done somewhere else. But, in the world of humans we have the greatest originality that has ever been created. Yes we were born an original, not to be made into a copy, but to stand out and be unique. Somewhere along the pathway of years however we become formed into a cookie cutter, robotic, fit in, conforming lifestyle. We lost what we had internally so as to have what the world wanted us to have externally.

This last week I have met, emailed, text, or chatted with several people that are facing tough life decisions. They lived, they loved, they contributed to their churches, they volunteered, they raised families, but through it all they each admitted that life just was not complete. They felt, as they looked back that something was missing. That something was their originality. They were not saying life was bad, it just wasn't complete. Matter of fact they were all proud of their accomplishments, as they should have been, they just felt like there was a spirit in them that had never had the opportunity to escape.

I find it quiet interesting to discuss with people why they think they get caught up in the whirlwind of life that conforms us to be what everyone else decides we will be. Some say family pressure, some say the need to keep up, some say fear. Whatever it is that binds you to a life of conformity also binds you to being a copy of someone other than yourself.

I often here that you will never be happy with anything you get if you can't learn to be happy with what you have. I will not argue that statement but I would love to amend it. I don't think happiness is centered around what we have or what we get, I think happiness is grounded into the acceptance of who we are. Once we accept fully who we are our originality and individuality will stimulate senses that will spark a fire that will burn inside us the desire to be the greatest version of ourselves the world has ever known.

We live in an age of conformity, it is ingrained in us from birth. We are not taught to stand out we are taught to fit in. Think for a moment about the man they called Jesus. When he spoke the world trembled. He spoke against conformity and spoke out about individuality. When he spoke he sparked fear in the one's who were trying to mold society into tight knit controlled community. When he spoke he gave courage and hope to the one's who wanted more but had lost their ability to dream. When he spoke the dead came to life, the sick became well, and the sinners were forgiven. When he spoke he paved the way for us to be the original miracle God breathed into us from birth.

Where were you when you discovered that you were not the run of the mill person that the world wanted you to be? Or should I ask where are you now? Are you in the first quarter of life or the closing minutes? It honestly doesn't matter, if you are breathing you are still seeking hope to be the person you always knew you wanted to be. Believing in God is believing in who God intended you to be. You were born an original do not die a copy. Life is so precious and even better when it is lived fully in the skin you were given. Never accept someone else's opinion of you as your reality, go out an blaze the way to be the stand out you always knew you could be. The world truly does need you at your best, why? Because without you being your best I cannot be my best, it takes us all to make the world a better place. You might be the person that brings peace to the world, cures cancer, writes the next book of hope, or helps feed and house the less fortunate. Whatever it is that is in your heart and soul it is yearning to get out. If you die with your dreams and ambitions still in you just think of all the people that missed out on the greatest miracle in the world, and that my friends is you.

peace and love
Dale
