Passion, Purpose, and Change

Is change the most feared word in the dictionary? We have all heard the cliche that "growth only comes through change". No doubt that is a true statement, which makes one wonder why change is so difficult to embrace. One thing for sure is that life is dynamic, it isn't static and never will be. That simply put means we are changing and evolving whether we like it or not. 

Working diligently to cling to life as it is or once was is counter cultural to the way the universe operates. Time doesn't stand still for any of us. The moments become memories as fast as they happen. Let's take a journey through some streets of time to see where the path may lead. 

After years of writing this blog and hearing from people I have determined that one of the greatest tragedies in human existence is not being able to fully connect with the person that resides inside us. We are bound by societal norms that guide our life down the road of conformity. We are taught organically to be static even though as mentioned above we are dynamic.We will breath till we die, but will we really LIVE till we die?  You would think that embracing the person we are would be encouraged not discouraged. Granted externally many will tell you to become who you are. They mean that as long as it fits into a category they feel is safe. What happens over a period of time is that we loose the desire to come of age and slowly but surely life as we dreamed slips away. We try as we may to explain it as though dreams are for kids. The truth in my eyes is something quite different. Dreams stimulate passion which drives us towards our purpose. When we miss the turn and instead take the road well traveled we ultimately die with our music still in us. Dreams are for everyone regardless of age or circumstances. 

Have you ever noticed that friendships and relationships do in fact change as we go through the evolution of time? We lose, we love, we share, we laugh, we cry, we experiment, we live, and we die. Many times we expend so much energy trying to maintain the status quo of life and relationships that we miss the very opportunities right in front of us. When we approach the fork in the road we seek out familiar terrain, never considering the fact that the road LESS traveled may have beauty beyond our belief. You deserve to seek out new avenues, new paths, new gateways, but that takes commitment. As we get closer to the stop sign it becomes clear that there are in fact more directions to go than straight ahead. It is decision time isn't it? Stand still, back up, turn left, go right, or keep going the direction we are headed. Change is the dynamic so the only way to find the life we seek is to take the leap of faith and go a new direction. Yes it does sound painful doesn't it. Healing isn't pain free my friends, and the best medicine is to do something instead of nothing at all. 

The same goes for our spirituality. I have seen so many lives grow cold and stale simply because people refuse to explore the curiosity that resides in their mind. It is so entrenched in us from youth that you NEVER question your faith, you just accept it as fact. God gave us a strong curiosity and it is incumbent upon us to utilize it in ways that enhance our lives. Remember growth only comes through change. If you have questions, as I know you do, about your faith, spirituality, or religion, I urge you to explore it till you get answers that satisfy you. This is a very important facet of life that if left unattended will shutter your dreams fast. There is a direct connection to coming into yourself and embracing your thoughts about the universe and the mere existence of faith and spirituality. You want to grow? Never ever shut down the curious endeavor seeking wild and crazy mind, instead open it up to every possible scenario you can conceive. Yes, those close to you will tell you to stop, turn around, or be careful. Why? Because few, if any, desire to see you blossom into the greatest version of yourself possible. 

Where does this leave us? Obviously this blog is short and simple. Due to the very nature of the subject. We could write for years and never scratch the surface. In summation though my goal for this writing is for you to gain control of your life again. Allow your mind to open back up and dream once more. Change is happening all around you. It is a dynamic, you can fight it and live your time as a zombie and merely exist, or you can inhale the awesome world around you and exhale that which has held you back. You deserve to live your life in new and exciting ways. As difficult as it is to let go of that which has tied you down, when you do life as you know will be forever changed. It is absolutely true that you were born an original and you must refuse to die a copy. Your life has value but only you can put the price tag on it. Others will pay what you perceive your worth to be. If God created you as his greatest miracle, price your life accordingly. Change will bring a new peace into your life and it will facilitate in releasing all that has been holding you back. What are you waiting for?
