The Backwards side of Front

I will admit the name for this blog is rather intriguing to say the least. The backwards side of front, I mean really come on. That sounds like an oxymoron to me. The truth is that it is an oxymoron as is life sometimes. Let's have a thought provoking look at life through a different set of lenses.

Many of us go through our daily grind encountering people that we literally have no idea what their story is. Not that you have time to care, but our emphasis is on our time schedule, not theirs. Sure as good citizens and loving human beings we outwardly show an expression of goodness, yet inside we are in a hurry to get things done. It is interesting how we live in such a way that other people are mere figments of our imagination or worse totally invisible except for that brief face to face encounter. It isn't so much that we as a human race have become self centered, it is because we have lost sight of the joy in our own lives. Wait a minute, what does me being in a rush and seemingly ignoring people have to do with me not having joy in my life?

Like an addictive drug we fill our lives nearly to the brim with what we hope will bring us immense pleasure but it always falls short of our expectations. Then with that little space left at the top we add some flavoring in the hopes it will bring exactly what we need to make the rest of it taste great. So it is with a hectic life. What are you flavoring your life with in the hopes it will get better?

This is your life, not mine. My life is my life, not yours. My life has a story unique to me, as your life has one unique to you. Neither story, mine nor yours, is better or worse than the other, it is simply put, life. Due to our socioeconomic circumstances we all utilize our resources to find a way to add that sparkle or magic back into and otherwise dull mundane life. The question as I see it is what truly brings the sparkle back? Money obviously can't buy it, controlling other people's lives doesn't do it, being loud and outspoken only creates more division, so what does give us that sparkle and magic?

Life is a series of situations that give us wisdom, strength, and foresight into what tomorrow holds. We use our experiences as a sedge way into what we hope will be a bright future. When we try to alter that wisdom and knowledge with pseudo, make believe, image changing baseless facts we lose the potential to have a life of peace and joy. In this world in which we find ourselves we are deluged with misinformation about how we should and should not do this or that. It is all in an effort to make you someone you are not. In the end the only hope for peace and joy in life is a constant pursuit of self. I mean think about it, do you even remember who you were before the world convinced you who you should be?

We were created to be loving creatures pure and simple. We have a heart, we have a soul, and we have a mind, all fortified with goodness. Anything else is learned behavior which also means it can be  changed behavior. When we live our lives inside the bubble society created we will always have bitterness, hate and division within us. It is only our search for self in an open honest way that provides us with the means to be happy. If you find yourself caught up in paranoia, jealousy, bitterness, hate, rage, or any other moods that take peace out of your life, it is usually because you are trying to control something in someone else. In this life we must appreciate the differences we find in others, allow them the freedom to be in search of self just as you are. It is okay when others vote a certain way, live a lifestyle different than you, speak a different language, etc. Remember everyone has a story that makes them unique to the universe. Our job is to love them as they are.

What is your story? I encourage you to start reading from the backwards side of front. Read it with a keen eye forward while holding on to the wisdom gained behind you. Let go of the hurt that others may have caused you and for goodness sake stop activities that cause pain in others. This life is very short and goes by in the blink of an eye, there is no need to waste it on anything that brings you pain and suffering. The art of letting go so you can finally be you is an art of true beauty. Let go of that which is holding you back and as you go forward do so in an act of love. When you encounter people in your daily walk do so with a purpose and that purpose is to smile and bring joy to their lives as it will in turn bring joy to yours.

peace and love
