Holy Grail
Ever wonder why we struggle so much to find or create our own identity? During the search we often get confused with our purpose being the same as our identity and they are totally different. You hear people frequently say that this or that is their purpose or that they are waiting for God to show them what their purpose is. Life is about moving forward, being dynamic not static yet we spend way to much of our time living in the status quo. Keep in mind if you want what others have do what others do, but if you want what few have do what few do. Very few people spend their lives loving and creating the search for self.
What holds us back? Why can't we just jump off the cliff and take risks that we normally would not take? We have built within us a safety mechanism that shelters us from harm. The problem as I see it is that we use that safety valve as an excuse for sitting still instead of moving forward. Risk taken with integrity will surely find a pot of gold eventually. The trials and tribulations along the way pave the road so the long journey ahead gets smoother and smoother. Contrast that by sitting still and living life in the ruts. We lay in bed at night and dream of life of what if's. We wait for something to happen before we can do something. Life is a cyclical whirlwind of disappointment that you get conditioned too and before you know it the years have clicked off and you are living your life doing the same thing others do. Dreams and hopes are distant memories and in your eyes you wonder was it all even worth it.
If you are not willing to find your purpose by stepping off the paved path then you will probably always struggle with identity. Yesterday is the Holy Grail of wisdom, within that is a marvelous secret to finding and creating the person you always dreamed of being. God did not allow our creation so we would be held back, we were created to do great things. That does not mean being a super hero or movie star it means living a life beyond what YOU think you are capable of.
Being stuck in a body pretending to be someone you are not robs everyone around you of yours and their tremendous potential. We are born to be social which means we can't do it alone. Our identity is who we are, our purpose is what we are. The search for both encompass the same set of mental and emotional skills. In order to develop either you have to be willing to let go of the wasteland of yesterday in order to live the dream of today. I love to live on the edge. I love to recreate who and what I am daily. I want to walk the road few walk, not walk with the crowds that keep their heads down. It is time to live and live we shall do. It isn't easy deciding to live life but it sure is easy to decide you won't live it. The difference is the stress following the masses is much worse than the risk of failure running with the few. It isn't easy to step away in order to move forward, but in my crazy little world it is much easier than living in regret the rest of my life.
