Is God real?

A couple years back I sit down at this very computer and begin a dialogue with God. I'm sure to some extent my imagination influenced the discourse of the conversation. Regardless it was eyeopening yet superficial. For the last several months I have had the human desire to revisit to a much greater depth where I felt we left off.

In an effort to reignite our talk I had to dig a little deeper this time. Why? Well first I had to seriously determine the depth of my belief in this entity we called God. Or let me say this with confidence, I had to allow myself to ask questions you would most likely be afraid to ask, right. I mean, we all to some extent, question the existence of a supreme being that seems to favor some people over others. Consider this, one family prays for a miracle and something unexplained happens and they give the credit to God. While a few doors down another family prays fervently and nothing happens. Let's dive deeper, here in American the average life expectancy is 78 yet we whine, bitch, and moan about how bad we have it. Apparently even though we take our blessings for granted this so called God person showers his grace upon us. On the other side of the world there exists extreme poverty and horrific conditions that we would not put our worst criminals in. These people have life expectancy of 30 years or less. Worse is this, during their life they experience absolutely horrible living environments. I guess this awesome God that loves some of us must HATE others.

Before you attack me for using the word God and Hate in the same sentence, first admit to yourself that you have the same questions I pose. It isn't that I do not believe in God, it is the fact that I struggle to believe in the God as depicted by others in the religious realm. It is as if when people set foot in church a pseudo self emerges. All the sudden the perfect person walks the aisles engaging in topical conversation that has no depth or meaning. All the while the voices in your head are telling you that you are living a life outside that which the institution you are sitting in preaches. More to the point, you are not being true to yourself and you know it. I am not implying that you are being bad. Quiet the contrary, I am saying that you are not accepting and embracing the fullness of who you could be.

As human beings with all the emotions that go along with this body we inhabit, how does one coexist in a world that neither accepts or denies that there is something more powerful and supreme than we know. You and I both question why we think the way we think. Or one step further, why can't we just be normal in our thoughts on spirituality, sexuality, conscience morality, etc. Why can't we simply be what we are instructed to be. My thoughts are this, THANK GOODNESS we do think different than everyone else. Can you imagine what the world would be if we all chose to explore our life defining questions? Trust me it would be better than you think. We were not born to fit in and walk with the crowd, we were created to make a huge impact on this world in a positive way. What holds us back? A belief system that by it's very nature seeks to control not set you free. We are wild at  heart and always will be, when you cage us, over time the life is drained and we no longer seek the passionate purpose that once burned so bright inside us. Our flame has been reduced to a smoldering ember. Is it the end? No, if you choose, this can be a wonderful new beginning.

I can say with confidence that every person you encounter is dealing with some issue that divides their moral character. It may be the guilt of a past action or the confusion over current feelings that should not be happening. Either way the human part of us is always striving to push the limits and for that we should be thankful. I believe without a shadow of a doubt that we can solve most, if not all issues mankind faces if we gave ourselves permission to fully embrace what the voices in our head tell us. Once again I ask you to give thought to that before you discount it. Let's say that God is real, which by the way I believe. Let's say God set the wheels of the universe in motion and gave us free will to manage that in which we have been entrusted. Just imagine if we could use that free will to break the shackles that have bound us for generations. We should be free to ask the life questions without fear of reproach. We should be free to explore the amazing depth of our love and the unlimited potential that exists inside us. We should NEVER under any circumstance settle for a life that is less than what we are capable of living. Which means we must always be seeking to climb higher and higher up the mountain of life. We cannot stop believing that there is so much more than what we currently see. Together we can tap into a talent pool that can bring everyone in the world an opportunity to be happy and to live in a healthy environment.

Back to where we started, does God exists? I will not give you text book, church defined biblical answers, I'll let the the prophets tell me I'm wrong for writing and thinking in such a public forum. I do however wish to encourage you to embrace your humanity, listen intently to  your heart, let your soul come alive and please bring the chains that have held you back for years. God is real, God is love. Let yourself feel that love without all the media drive hype that sets to tie you back down. Your life matters as do your feelings. Keep questioning everything and who knows before the days is over I just might have another conversation with the God I truly do believe in.

peace and love
Dale
