Inside out.
Over the years I have written about many people that have overcome incredible odds in order to live a life others, possibly you included, only dream about. They made sure that there dreams were bigger than their excuses. While the rest of the world was doing whatever, they were doing what ever it took. I mean think about it, a person born with no arms and no legs, in our own minds, would have little reason to live. Yet, live is exactly what people like Nic Vujicic does. No, let me rephrase that, he does more than live, he thrives. Why? What makes people like Nic so different?
Let's start this epic little journey with LOVE. Take a look at yourself, from the inside out. Put physical appearance aside for a minute. Do you love the person that lives inside you? That is a question with such deep rooted meaning. We are not taught to truly love ourselves. I know what the Bible says, "love your neighbor as you love yourself". I agree with that statement too, but that is not how we perceive what society teaches, is it. Love, by our generation, and media driven spectacle, tells us that outward appearance is everything. When we buy that useless information we devalue the person we really are. Next thing you know, we feel like our dreams are hopeless, our life is meaningless, and our purpose is nonexistent. All because we placed what others perceive about us higher than who we truly are. When we live from the outside in we quickly lose hope. We get sucked into the hole of darkness and before you know it we hate who we have become. Our lives spiral hopelessly out of control and we fade quickly to a life of black and white. The once beautiful color that expressed our bright hues grew cold and lost it's light. We bought the goods that the world was selling. We became one of them. We filled our coffers with wonderful excuses that could be utilized at any moment when we needed to share why we were not living up to our God given potential. I mean, seriously, nothing is our fault, right.
Now, I am going to put this on the spin cycle. How do you see others and the world around you. Remember the eyes are useless when the mind is blind, yet for the most part we believe what we think we see, but the truth is we see so very little. We miss the heart of the matter when our focus is entirely on the outward appearance. You recall the cliche "you only get one chance to make a first impression". Think about when you encounter someone for the first time. What do you THINK YOU SEE. Do you understand that before you is an anomaly, a freak of nature, and highly specialized unique individual created by a God so awesome and loving that there is absolutely NO WAY that this person could be a mistake. Or do you size them up based on a conditioning that has permeated your mind with a believe that is so fundamentally false that you can't see the person because you are focused on the vessel.
That is deep and broad for sure, now let's land this spaceship and bring the message back to earth. We are taught to have excuses READY TO FIRE when something goes against us. We never under any circumstance vilify ourselves, oh no, we are always the victim, when we share the story of our lives. The once fiery hot zest for life has been replaced with cookie cutter, in the box, worn out list of excuses as to why you cannot or will not be able to do something. You have no love in your heart for anyone much less yourself. All you know is this, I CAN'T DO IT. Matter of fact you even go as far as to get mad when others don't buy your excuses, which leaves you searching for new and better ones.
Here is my LOVE challenge for you. Clear your mind of can't. Love yourself from the inside out. With the knowledge that, other people tend to place the same or less value on you that you place on yourselves, so let's establish your worth much higher than you currently believe. I don't care what you've done, what you have, who you are, where you are, or what baggage you have brought with you. What I care about is you, from the inside out. I know without a shadow of a doubt that you are planted in rich soil, you are ready to sprout, and it is up to you to provide the water for the seed. No one is going to come along and nurture your seed until you germinate and bloom. This one is on you. It is time to fertilize your heart and soul with a LOVE so hot and powerful that nothing will ever hold you back again. The forces of nature cannot stop the human soul on fire. It begins and ends with you and it can and will happen when your driving force is LOVE.
Going back to where we stared. Nic hated life for many years. He not nothing to live for, he was a freak of nature, and everyone reminded him of that. One day he decided to bloom where he was planted. No one came along and did it for him, today Nic still has no arms and legs yet he is one of the most sought after inspirational speakers and writers of our time. Once he got past the excuses and owned his life, he was able to water his seed and something amazing happened. His flower grew into an amazing beautiful one of a kind blossom filled with love. He lives his life from the inside out. You are God's Greatest Miracle, it's time to live like you believe it. No addiction, no past sins, no nothing is going to ever hold you back again. This is your time to bloom and to LOVE the person you truly are.
